You guys with the GO-300's....

What are you cruising at, RPM wise...

I tend to run around 3050 rpm... Does this seem high, or should the thing
be firewalled....

I've heard conflicting stories from many people...
Just wanted to see if I could get some wisdom from those who might ACTUALLY know...

Matt,

I tend to use a cruise power setting between 2900 and 3100 rpm and lean it out just on the rich side of peak. I haven't had any overtemp problems, have never stuck a valve and the exhaust pipes are always a nice tan/gray color when I shutdown.

The high power settings do not hurt the engine, especially the gear box. I think the biggest things in operating the engine is to keep the engine driving the prop and don't let the prop drive the engine (like in a low power steep decsent), and to get the oil hot enough to boil out the water and acids. Internal corrosion will tear up the cam, tappets, and gears.

Great...!

That's what I figured (and heard).
I'll continue on like I'm going then

Thanks again for the help.
