Norman you should collaborate with Edward "Ted" Slessor who is also building a homebuilt 175 floatplane. He has been looking at many different engine options including the IO-400 by Superior. He is located in Ontario. He only recently joined the Club but I met him at Oshkosh and he has been communicating with me since that time.

The IO-360 210HP continental is, of course, a nice engine! :-)

I would also consdier the O-350 Franklin 220HP.

Norman,

I'm not sure if Dave Stoots has gotten a PMA to sell a kit for his engine conversion. You might want to try him directly at 907-474-4039. I believe that he can install the engine in his shop and I have flown in his airplane. It has pretty impressive performance. I'd stick with the 4 cylinder Lycoming for best power to weight ratio.

Norman is building a homebuilt seaplane so he doesn't need a PMA'd I don't think, Norman??
