MEL. list.

I asked my IA / CFII to make one for my airplane and he said it's not required because the airplane was built prior to them being required. He said it was better if I didn't have one because I would then subject myself to additional rules and requirements. Neither of us could think of any advantage to having one. We agreed that I already knew what was and was not required for the various types of flight I would be involved in.

There is no specific approved MEL for the 175, or most Cessna singles, except for the Caravan.

There is an approved Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL) for single engine aircraft that can be found here:

http://www.opspecs.com/AFSData/MMELs/FINAL...0%20SE%20R5.doc

If you had an approved MEL for the aircraft then you would have to develop a program to identify which items could be deferred, how they would be deferred, how long they can be deferred, how they would be cleared, etc. It could put a restriction on the way you currently fly.

The best way for most single engine part 91 operators to go is use:

§ 91.205 Powered civil aircraft with standard category U.S. airworthiness certificates: Instrument and equipment requirements, and

§ 91.213(d) Inoperative instruments and equipment.
