Does anybody have a decent temperature compensation chart for flight control cable tension(1/8 diameter)? I don't see one in AC 43.13 nor did one come with my cable tensiometer. Service manual states to set (aileron carry through cable)for 40lbs +- 10 when adjusted at the average temperature in which the a/c is operated. I'm adjusting in 9 degree weather and fly anywhere from 20 to 110 degrees. I can recheck when the temps get back up to mid range...but I know there are comp charts out there.

Mike,

I checked the maintenance manuals and even the new production aircraft do not have a temperature compensation chart for checking/adjusting cable tensions.

Guys am looking in my Ac43-13 under chap. 4 paragraph 199 and they do mention temperature compensation but on LARGE AIRCRAFT. I don't think (i might be wrong) that temperature will affect much a small cable run like on cessna serie 100 aircraft. This is why there is tolerence on adjustement like 1/8" 40 lbs +/- 10 lbs

Thanks guys... I adjusted it to 30lbs at 9 degrees. I'll be curious to see what it looks like at 60 degrees & 100 degrees
this summer. Could've swore we had a comp table back in A&P school...20 yrs ago...who knows.

Checked tension today during my annual... At 53 degrees, tension increased 4lbs from the tension set at 9 degrees.
