I know it is only February, but, July will be here before we want it to be. I was taking with Jim Swanson this evening and we would like to know how many are planning on attending AirVenture, July 26 - August 1 this year? Just an unofficial poll of who is planning on going so we can get a "prop count" and get on the list for type club parking again. After discussion with Jim, the club will not charge a deposit to be on the list.
Herb Driskill
Rick, put me on the list.

We need to get on the list for type club parking, but, if there is not enough interest we will not request the spots. VAA takes a lot of flak from other type clubs when they reserve spots for others and they are not used.

So far these are the ones that we know are planning on being there.

Rick, my wife and I are planning on going this year.

We will not be getting type club parking this year sad.gif. If we want to try to park together or close, we can meet somewhere outside of OSH and go in (unofficial mass arrival) in trail from RIPON to FISKE and should land and taxi to parking as a group. A couple of years ago I met Bobby and Kris at Rochelle, IL (Jim was going to meet us also but we changed airports after he was in the air). They have self service fuel and it was only about an hour from there to OSH. Weather permitting I will be going over on Sunday.

Good morning Rick: Do we have a Plan to meet yet? It would be good to all go in together and park together. We are only 6 weeks away.

I bought my tickets to attend Oshkosh 2010, now am waiting on my work schedule to see if I can get time off to attend. N7001M

Does anyone have any ideas on location or time to meet up and go into OSH? A couple of years ago I met up with Bobby & Kris in Rochelle, IL, it is about an hour south of OSH and had self service fuel. I plan on arriving on Sunday and departing on Saturday.

Hi Rick:
Have you made any plans yet to meet and fly in to Oshkosh? Have you heard if any one else is flying in?

See you soon

Ron and alice
Rick Anderson
Ron,

I haven't heard from anyone else lately to confirm that they are going to be there. Right now my plan is to go over on Sunday (weather permitting) if the Sunday forcast is bad and Saturday is OK then I will probably go over on Saturday.

You have a longer trip than I do, do you have any preferences on a meeting place or time?

My cell number is 517-375-1480.

If I get to fly to OSH, do you think there will still be parking on Sunday late afternoon or evening? I know there probably won't be parking if I get there late due to weather like last year.
Rick Anderson
Judy,

Who knows what the Vintage parking are will be like, I know a lot of people who are not going this year. Give me a call when you make your last fuel stop and lrt me know your eta.
Judy K. Mitchell
For me, Oshkosh is all about camping out under the wing at OSH. I didn't realize the last 2 years, what a priviledge it was to have reservations, and the club waiting on me, always a day late due to weather. Last year, after I landed after the big storm on Monday evening, even the tower knew I was enroute and a spot was being held for me. I do know one thing, I don't want to fly 8-9 hours, only to have to park at some other airport if parking is full at OSH. Due to that reason, I will plan on leaving on Saturday, and arriving on Saturday evening or Sunday. If weather delays me, I probablly won't make the trip, due to parking saturation at OSH. My cell is 806-676-8366.

Good enening Rick: Alice and I will be leaving Brookiings on Friday the 23rd. We will take 2 + days to fly to the Oshkosh area. If you know of an airport near there where we can all meet on Sunday that would be great. We might even fly that far on Saterday and spend the night at that location. I have no local knowledge of the area so it is up to you.

Fly safe

Ron,

Check out Rochelle Muni (KRPJ) it is south of OSH about an hour, but had good self serve fuel prices. I could be there about 1000 on Sunday, weather permitting.

Judy,

What time do you think you could be at Rochelle Muni?

Anyone else want to meet there on the way in?
Judy K. Mitchell
I will do the research on Rochelle, IL. I am too busy at work this week, but had time to air up the tires and re-charge the battery on N7001M. I have all sectional maps in the mail now, so will start flight planning.
Ron Lindley
Rick: Aliceand I will meet you at RPJ if all goes as planned.

Ron
Rick Anderson
Sounds good.
Ron Lindley
Is anyone going to Oshkosh other than Rick, Judy and Me?
Clay Story
I have to fly some people to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn. on Sunday and leave on Tuesday.
With any luck I may be able to sneak over there on Monday.
Rick Anderson
Ron,

Weather forecast is looking great for Sunday, I should be on the ground at Rochelle, IL (RPJ) be 1000 local in Illinois.
Herb Driskill
I will be rolling into Oshkosh on Saturday (driving), but staying at the Holiday Inn in Appleton. Hope to see all of you during the days.
Ron Lindley
Sounds Great Rick. We plan on being at RPJ Saturday night. We will be watching for you.

Ron
Rick Anderson
Herb,

I can't believe you have opted for riding to OSH with your wife and roughing it in a hotel over getting in some quality aviating and camping out behind the wing. Give me a call when you get out of the hot tub and to the airport.
Erik Hoopes
Hey guys have some fun for me, we would love to go this year but funds won't allow.

Cheers!
Judy K. Mitchell
I feel bad for not making it to OSH this year. Work and weather got in the way, so I opted for a 3 day camping trip. The last 2 days back at home, I have felt like I am at OSH, watching and listening live online on the 3 cameras they have on the grounds. Hope to make it next year! Judy N7001M.

I flew to Rochester, Mn. last Sunday and had all day Monday but could not get a rental car to drive to Oshkosh. Several conventions in town.
Since there had been so much rain at Oshkosh, I did not want to fly over there and park the Seneca on the soft ground.
Sounds like you lucky ducks whom got to attend the event had a great time.
Rick Anderson
Ron & Alice Lindley and myself made it on on Monday afternoon, saw one other 175 and that was it. Wasn't too bad if you could get past the soft grounds and Alaskan sized misquitoes.

Ron & Alice departed Saturday evening for the left coast and I made the 2.5 hour flight from OSH over Lake Michigan to 45G on Sunday morning after the fog lifted.

The number of vendors and participants was really down this year, even McCauley didn't show up to occupy their space.

I think going to the opposite side of the airport with some of the warbird guys to watch the airshow and the Saturday night airshow and fireworks had to be the highlights of the show. There were a few new toys if you had a deep enough bank account, but, I got home fairly cheap this year.
Herb Driskill
Glad I got to see you there Rick. I agree with Rick, attendance and airplanes were down this year because of the weather. They didn't start letting certificated aircraft onto the field until Sunday afternoon, only experimentals. Most certificated airplanes went to Appleton or Fond Du Lac. It was a mess for the first couple of days. Motor Homes and Campers were scattered all over Oshkosh because the camping grounds were too wet. Monday it took over 2 1/2 hours just to get parked. Things started getting back to normal around Wed. I left Saturday morning in the fog and drizzle and didn't run out of it until Madison. Overall I still had a great time, bought a few toys but mostly just looked.
Judy K. Mitchell
I can only imagine how neat the night air show was. I guess I had a front row cheap seat this year. I was glued to the internet many hours a day watching and listening. I even got goose bumps when the sky diver decended with the American flag. It was especially cool listening to the air boss talk to the pilots performing in the air show. Glad all of you that got to go this year enjoyed it. And Eric, if you can go next year, maybe I can pick you up somewhere.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Judy! We watched the EAA airventure production DVD again last week and I broke out a legacy film of the 1985 Concorde visit for the boys to watch. I have been buying a new aviation film each year at OSH so I guess I'll have to ply the internet for a new one.

Did anyone happen to visit the seaplane base or see Joe Birkemeyer of Baumann out there? How about some pics?
