Kris, or anyone know where I can get a list of the STCs to convert a Cessna Skyhawk II to a Cont. IO-360 engine? A friend is buying one and has a couple of engines.

Sorry Herb, I know of nothing for the 172.
Yours would be easier.
I am looking for an engine my good engine is not certified due to a fraudulent mechanic. Spent a bucket of money on it too. Will cost me about $6K to get it torn down again and re certified. May do that this summer.
Cheers!

Kris that GO-300 is still sitting in the big hangar at Chickasha.

Thanks Herb. I would be scared of it sitting for 3 years without care or pickling. Might have rust or corrosion inside now.
Lenny, he took my legal overhauled parts, assembled the engine, and then never provided me with any paperwork or even return my own logs/tags.

Erik,
Who was it you dealed with? We in the area need to know who to avoid.
I wouldn't be afraid of a GO-300 that sat a few years. If the bottom end was good, it still is. If the cylinders were high hours used/questionable, put on either new Titans or overhauled cylinders from Gibson, et al, depending on your budget, and go fly.
Mine had several years of year light use, and the last top went 800+hours and 20 years. The bottom is still going and runs great since I did a top overhaul this winter.

Tad, it was a Mechanic who works for a shop in Oklahoma City. He did the work on the side. It was not sponsored by the business so I do not want to include their name. Mechanics name is: Mark Oliver, IA, AP.
It would be about as expensive to Top the GO-300 as to re-assemble my IO-360. They quoted me around $5,500 to do a conformity inspection on my engine.
